Interested in a 36' cruising sailboat with the feel of a much larger model, but without the additional expenses of docking and storage?
How about a sailing performance in light to moderate winds (10 - 15 knots) that will leave your friends on the heavier cruisers behind - where performance is suited to the wind and seas that 20+ knots provides. If you aren't circumnavigating, then, like most cruisers, you generally wait for the former weather conditions for that next leg. Of course, if the weather forecast changes en-route, your friends on the heavy cruisers might be setting anchor a tad bit ahead of you. But, that doesn't mean she is a slouch in heavier blows, as a planned 12 hour leg from St Lucia to Bequia quickly became closer to an 8 hour one, when unexpected 20+ knots on the beam had us surfing down the large ocean swells at 8+ knots!
Or a hydrodynamic performance that belies her 36', carrying you along with the big boys on those calmer conditions, like when trying to make that next bridge opening on the ICW. We regularly move at 6.6-6.8 knots, at the optimal output for fuel efficiency (2600-2800 rpm), and can punch her up to that theoretical hull speed of 7.1/7.2 knots, at 3100-3200 rpm, well below maximum throttle, when needed!
And, finally, a price point that can make the cruising dream affordable, whether a family of four exploring the Great Lakes or retired seniors ready for their next adventure in life?
If this sounds like what you are looking for, then continue on to find out what sold us on this design, and learn about our history with her. Furthermore, if you are not familiar with this gem of a design, then look through the Links Section (pulldown menu under "more" tab) for useful information and videos on the web - you will not be disappointed, since almost all of the boats you have been considering are likely aft cockpit designs. Consider the differences, and see whether you feel the same way we did when first finding her.
